Camouflage.  
Camouflage was first introduced during WW1. As aerial assault became a threat, soldiers began looking for ways to hide from view of planes. They started wearing clothes which matched their environment. Today, camouflage is a major part of our military success. The most advanced camouflage that we currently have is worn by military snipers. Each sniper specially prepares their camouflage before every mission, to match the environment they will be in. They have suits where grasses and shrubbery can be placed in order to turn them virtually invisible from the enemy.

In the pre-19th century era there were little to none safe medical practices. There were no antibiotics and no anti-bacterial medicines. With the addition of a lack of pain killers, surgery was a grueling and painful act. Surgeries were very basic and typically ended in limb amputations.

Flintlock Pistol

The flintlock pistol was first invented by the French around the early 17th century by French courtier Marin le Bourgeoys for King Louis XIII. It replaced earlier firearm-ignition technologies. This included muskets and rifles. This invention modernized the rest of the world especially when it spread to America where the musket (flintlock mechanism) was used during the American Civil War.

Its mechanism included a piece of flint which was held in place between a set of jaws on the end of a short hamer. That hammer is then pulled back and when released, it moves forwards to cause the flint to strike the "frizzen" which is a piece of steel and simultaneously pulls it back to release gunpowder. When the flint strikes the frizzen, a spark of hot metal fall into the pan (where the gunpowder is held) and then ignites the gunpowder. All this ignites the main powder charge in the barrel and the weapon is fired.

Drones. 
Predator Drones are unmanned operated aircraft designed for recon of the battle field. Recently a new breed of the drones have been unleashed called the Reaper Drone. They have a full arsenal of weapons just like regular aircraft and they have even more advanced recon and radar systems. This is an example of how technology is taking the humanity out of warfare. This drone can unleash terror without the threat of harming any pilot.

Battleships are some of the largest weapons in our arsenal.  They can hold thousands of people and can be compared to floating fortresses.

In the 1700' naval ships played an essential role in warfare and also imperialism.

Cannons in the in the 1700's were very basic but powerful. The had low mobility and  needed horses to transport them. 



Cannons in the 1900's progress greatly. However larger, with new technology they became much easier to transport. Making cannons an deadly weapon on the battle field.



Cannons today are a whole other breed of weaponry. Tanks are the modern day cannons. They are much more powerful than previous cannons and some can reach upwards of 70 mph.

The Basics of Creating the Nuclear Bomb

This was an interesting post I found when I was on tumblr a few days ago. It shows how advanced our technology has become from simple handguns and rifles to using chemicals and even parts of atoms to create something more dangerous.


Supposedly, as stated from the Internation Atomic Energy (IAEA),  Iran may most likely be joining the ranks of the world’s nuclear weapons club. United States, Great Britain, France, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea already belong to this club.


In the post, it states how to create a nuclear bomb.

     1.    Get the fuel
            - centrifuge uranium-235 and uranium-238 since less than 1% is found in nature (need 90% of -235) 
           - enrich made uranium -235 by nuclear reactor since the energy when the isotopes split is what is needed for the bomb (need chain reaction of this energy) 
              - Iran currently has 20% done (of uranium -235)

      2. Engineer a method of detonation

           - need to mash 2 similar pieces of uranium together to form the nuclear reaction

           - most weapons today are detonated by explosives and blasts from these weapons is focused on the uranium to start a shock wave and then it produces a secondary atomic blast

     3. Find a way to deliver the bomb

          - holding uranium is difficult and lengthy (North Korean failed detonation in 2006)

I found this really cool video. The latest United States military weapons consist of brand new snipers that are already in soliders' hands in Iraq and Afghanistan. New tank snipers operate like a video game, making it easy for any solider to use.
